Stroller Parking

Stroller parking is available directly in front of LYKKE Kids! Bring along a lock to lock up your stroller, or you can borrow one from us! Parking strollers outside keeps it safe for everyone to enter and exit the space.

Snacks

You’re more than welcome to bring any nut-free snacks for your kiddos (or you!) along with any drinks. We have a space at the back with high chairs you’re welcome to use, as well as tables and chairs.

Stay as Long as Feels Right

Drop-in during our regular hours and stay as long as feels right for your kiddo(s). What does that mean? You know when your kiddo is ready to go home, because they’re hungry, tired, or just done.

Can you come for the morning, go home and have lunch / nap, and come back again in the afternoon? We find that once the kiddos leave, they feel done for the day. And for that reason, we don’t do in and out.

Laptops and Phones

LYKKE Kids is meant as a place where you can escape the noise + busyness of life. For that reason, laptops stay home (we’re not a co-working space) and if you find that you need to make a quick phone call, we can show you a space where you can do that. And please don’t FaceTime in the space - it’s a bit awkward for the rest of us.

Visit when Everyone is Feeling Well

Families are really great about not visiting when someone has a cold or is sick. If you or your kiddos have been feeling under the weather, come have some fun when everyone is feeling well. It helps take care of other families too.

Dress for Mess and FUN!

At LYKKE Kids, we see mess as a part of learning. Sand will go out of the sandbox. It can be swept up. If your kid(dos) would love to paint, we have aprons for them (and you!) If you’re concerned about paint or marker on their clothes, maybe dress them in something that’s not a favourite.

Sock Party!

We ask that everyone keep socks on (for hygiene reasons and for safety). And we leave shoes at the door (even indoor ones).

Washrooms

Downstairs we have 3 gender neutral washrooms that you’re welcome to use, along with a change table. The middle washroom was designed with toddlers in mind, with a toddler-sized toilet and sink. They can do everything all by themselves!

Hand washing and Clean-up

We have sinks downstairs and even a nice big laundry tub if someone needs a total scrub down :)

Enjoy the Area!

The neighbourhood is filled with young families and lots to do. East Lynn Park is across the street - a great place to enjoy a picnic lunch together, play at the playground or jump in the splash pad in the summer. There are lots of great bakeries around, ice cream shops, kids’ clothing store, public library, and more… You’ll find plenty to explore and enjoy in the neighbourhood.

  • Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends visit the space together

  • There are families with monthly passes who visit regularly

  • The owner is an Ontario Certified Teacher and continues to evolve the space based on her observations of the kiddos who visit (their interests, strengths, and needs)

  • Many little ones call it, “Lainie’s House” because it’s a familiar place where they feel comfortable and safe

We’re a Shared Space

What does that mean?

It means when you visit,
you’ll see…

Families enjoying time
with other families too

People chatting and interacting
with each other’s kids

People helping each other out

Showing them where to find things
or offering an extra hand

People tidying up

Grabbing the broom,
picking up a toy, or wiping down
the table when they’re done

It’s the people who visit this space
that help create the magic.

We’re excited for you
to experience it.
